Preserving the historical ties to Chester County with this 18th century farmhouse, once the home of a Wyeth daughter.
Planning the build
The property, originally a log cabin dating back to 1731, has seen various additions and renovations over the centuries. With the local historical commission prohibiting changes to the original facade, the renovation required careful design to honor the colonial revival aesthetic while bringing the interior fully into the modern era.
Space to entertain
The kitchen and living room serve as the heart of the home, designed around a love of entertaining. A large kitchen with an oversized island and wine bar flows seamlessly into the living room, both overlooking the sprawling property. Just off the living room, a covered outdoor patio with roll-down screens extends the entertaining space well into the warmer months.
Built for real life
The beauty of a custom home is the ability to design around how a family actually lives. With two dogs who make full use of the property, a mudroom with a walk-in dog shower and dedicated storage for cleaning supplies was a natural fit. For the wine enthusiasts, the basement houses a walk-in wine cellar with temperature and humidity controls. In the kitchen, reclaimed wood from the original structure frames the entrance to a spacious pantry, a subtle nod to the home's history.
